Experimental Research in the Field of Glue Laminated Elements on the Basis of Climate Tolerant Deciduous Trees
Šuhajdová, Eva ; Straka,, Bohumil (referee) ; Kanocz,, Jan (referee) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
This Doctoral thesis is focused on research of usability hardwood that is not used in structural engineering nowadays. Analysis of known hardwood properties and its verification by experiment was made. Mathematic analysis using the PROMETHEE method was used for most suitable hardwood species selection in the Central Europe conditions. The most suitable hardwood – beech – was subjected for further tests: finger-joint load bearing capacity experiment and beech homogenous and hybrid glulam experiment. The test results are compared with the values from professional literature.
Vplyv extrémneho umyvacieho procesu na pevnosť v ohybe lepeného spoja v listnatom dreve
Tuhý, Dušan
The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the effect of the washing process on the bending strength of the glued joint in a special solid wood panel made of hardwood. The goal was to analyze currently available adhesives and types of joints in solid wood panels and to deal with the issue of the washing process and its influence. The selected glue was PVAc glue Rakoll ® GXL 4 and a butt joint, and then the changes in bending strength were compared on wood samples from beech, oak, ash and maple after thirty cycles of an intensive washing process using cleaning tablets and subsequent acclimatization of the samples. These were compared with samples that did not undergo the cleaning process.
Vliv extrémního mycího procesu na pevnost ve smyku lepeného spoje v listnatém dřevě.

This masters’ thesis solves the problem of an effect of increased temperature and moisture on the strength of bonded joints in a special battenboard exposed to washing in standard household washing machines. Test samples were made of beech, locust, ash, walnut, and oak, bonded with PVAc D4 adhesive on a butt joint. After exposure to 30 washing cycles, the shear strength of the bonded joint was tested along the direction of fiber growth and compared to reference samples. The theoretical part includes a literature review and methodology, while the practical part presents the determined values and statistical evaluation.
